Article Rus Dining Chairs: My Honest Review

Finding the perfect dining room chair was probably the hardest task I’ve had to conquer in styling my home. Once we found the perfect dining room table, I knew I wanted a set of dining chairs that were timeless, elegant and modern so that they could evolve with my style over the years. After a couple of years searching, I finally found it: the Article Rus Dining Chairs.

Why Article?

If you’ve been around here for a while, it’s no secret that I am a huge fan of Article. Our first piece of furniture from Article was the Sitka Sofa for our living room and it impressed us so much. So when our hunt for the perfect dining room chair began, we always had our eye on Article. After doing some research and seeing a few other brands in person, we settled on the Rus Dining chair in black, and we don’t regret it one bit!

I have also been extremely impressed with both the quality and customer service presented at Article. There are a lot of furniture brands out there and it really is hard to find brands we trust. I have never doubted that Article would bring the highest of quality and kindest service. They have always delivered beyond our expectations and for that reason, I will always be a huge Article fan!

My first impression of the Article Rus dining chairs was really great. My jaw actually dropped as we unboxed the chairs and started assembling them in our dining room. Right off the bat, I could tell that the chairs were strong, sturdy and well worth the investment. The color is also absolutely gorgeous – a perfect blend of bold and matte black while not compromising the raw, wood detail. The Rus dining chairs definitely upgraded our space in a way far beyond my expectations!

Quality Review: 10/10

The quality of the Article Rus dining chairs gets an automatic 10/10. I actually tried really hard to find one single flaw with the quality of these chairs and I simply couldn’t find a single one. I think it’s no secret that we can tell a cheap chair when we see one. You know, the ones that wiggle when you shake them, creak when you sit down, or feel like they are going to break at any moment. This explains probably 80% of all the dining chairs I have ever sat on, honestly.

But with this chair, quality truly is unmatched. The wood is sturdy and thick, which tells me it will stand the test of time. I will come back and update this review after one year of use but for now, I am going to keep this review at a perfect 10.

I also just absolutely love the design of the chair. It really is simple, clean and modern making it a great chair for ANY home design style. It pulls elements from decades past while still paying tribute to a present modern design, and I really think this adds to the overall quality of the chair itself.

Comfort Review: 10/10

My husband was really nervous that these chairs weren’t going to be comfortable. And I can definitely see why – an all wood chair doesn’t exactly scream “comfort” to me, either. But we were both pleasantly surprised when we sat down in the chairs for the first time. It’s almost hard to explain in writing, but the chairs are designed in a way to naturally curve and mold to your body when you sit on them. The arch on the back support of the chair is super great, complimenting the subtle dip in the seat of the chair.

I also love that we don’t feel the need to purchase cushions for the chairs – they really are perfectly comfortable on their own! If you feel the need to add an extra level of comfort for guests, a simple linen pillow (as shown below) or a knit blanket would be a great accent! It makes for beautiful styling, too!

Price Range Review: 9/10

Price is honestly one of the hardest things when it comes to finding quality furniture. Lower price almost 100% of the time means poor quality. So sometimes, it’s worth investing a bit more money in some of the bigger pieces we bring into our homes, it’s just a matter of which pieces we decide to splurge on.

I would still definitely put the Article Rus dining chairs in a relatively “affordable” category. Comparable chairs I found on websites like Wayfair and Overstock came in around $50 cheaper per chair, but at the expense of much lower quality. Higher quality brands such as Serena & Lily, Pottery Barn, etc. were about $30-$50 more per chair depending on the design, which puts Article right in the middle.

The price per chair makes a big difference when purchasing a set of chairs in bulk, but like I mentioned, the quality of Article is SO much greater and for that reason, I really do believe it’s worth investing in higher quality. Especially considering how much time we spend at our dining tables!

All of this said, I do very much so prefer budget-friendly furniture pieces so I am docking off one single point for the price, here. At the end of the day, I do think these chairs are worth every penny, but I know there are other chairs out there that are cheaper and could deliver very similar results.

The Pros of the Article Rus Dining Chairs

• These chairs are unlike any chair I have seen (and this style of chair is really popular, so there are lot’s of similar ones out there!)
• They are easily the most comfortable wood dining chairs I have ever sat on (no need for cushions!)
• Quality is superb
• Design is elegant, timeless and perfect for a vast range of home design styles (making them super versatile!)

A Few of the Cons

• The price (there are definitely comparable chairs out there for cheaper, although I don’t believe you will find this type of quality in a lower price range!)
