Our Pregnancy Announcement

It’s been a while since I’ve shared a life update post on here and I think this announcement is the perfect time to get personal! On July 17th, 2022, we found out we are having a baby. I still can’t believe I am typing those words – it all seems like a surreal dream. A dream that we are not taking lightly and that we are so overjoyed to share with all of you. The privilege of parenthood is a great honor, and we thank our sweet heavenly Father for this precious gift every day. Below is a glimpse at our pregnancy announcement shoot – because I feel these deserve a permanent place here on the blog. Thanks for being here and following along – we feel so deeply that Baby G is already so loved and for that we are eternally grateful! xo

Baby Gage Coming March 2023

James and I have been married for almost seven sweet years. When we first got married, we knew that we wanted to wait a little while to have kids since we were so young. We had travel dreams, personal career goals and we just wanted time to create memories before adding another one to the mix. I honestly didn’t think we would end up waiting this long, but the Lord took us on some incredible journeys over the past few years and His timing is always far abundantly more perfect than our own. The desire to finally settle and start a family grew bigger once we made the big move from California to Omaha and found a home nestled in one of it’s beautiful neighborhoods. Our hearts are bursting with joy as we enter into this new season and we can’t wait to meet our little one in just six short months!

Sharing the News with Friends & Family

Something I had dreamed about for so many years was telling our friends and family about this special news. When we found out, we were so excited and thankful to have had two upcoming trips already planned to see both of our families so the timing was perfect. We were headed to Kentucky first to meet our new nephew, and then California to meet our new niece! Getting to tell our entire family in person was such a special treat that we are so thankful for. When we moved out to Omaha, we didn’t know if this would end up being a realistic option so it was so special to us that the timing worked out perfectly.

It was extra special getting to share the news with some of our dearest friends as well, people who have come alongside us in so many ways just like family over the years. While the sharing of this news with each person was special in it’s own unique way, one of my favorite ways we shared was on my birthday to a few friends out here in Omaha. James had thrown me a 1980s themed murder mystery party and he wrote my pregnancy into the storyline in a way that had everyone guessing what was going on. It was so fun to finally reveal the surprise near the end of the night and is definitely a memory I will hold close forever.

A Thankful Prayer

“Every good and perfect gift is from above…” (James 1:17)

We know that the role of parenthood is a huge honor and that the blessing of a child is a sweet gift from our Lord in heaven. Everyday I am brought to tears in awe and joy over this sweet gift and the journey we get to walk through together. We are so undeserving of God’s graces and my hope and prayer is that we would raise this child in a way that honors Him. This isn’t a privilege we take lightly, but one that we pray will sanctify us, humble us and grow us into models of Christ more and more every day. To Him be the glory forever and ever.

Thank you again, from the bottom of our hearts, for sharing in this joy with us. For a peek at our formal pregnancy announcement video, check out this link here. And stay tuned for all of the nursery and parenthood lifestyle inspiration coming to the blog so soon! xoxo

    • Hi Katie! I am so glad you love the idea, it was so fun! We don’t have anything formal written up for it really, it was an informal thing my husband put together but basically the storyline was a High School Prom Night where the Prom King & Queen were murdered and everyone was trying to figure out who did it. There were a couple of red herrings thrown into the loop including a few people seeing my character coming out of the bathroom crying, followed by my husband’s character and a few others finding a positive pregnancy test in the trash of that very same bathroom. So as people started talking to one another to gather clues, some were able to put the pieces together that I was the one with the positive pregnancy test and at the end of the night we revealed it wasn’t just part of the story but a real life announcement! Ha!
